About Our Computers
How old is my computer/device/technology?
Every computer or laptop is built “new to you” and thoroughly tested in our shop. However, all items are rebuilt from used units and parts. We buy from various sources and at various times. Since we refurbish these items ourselves, using multi-sourced parts, it is not possible to pin down a specific “age” or year of production. Also note that we generally specialize in “PC” based systems which, unlike Apple products, do not have specific model years.
Where do you get your stuff?
Why are you selling it?
We buy in bulk from the wholesale market. Therefore, we do not know the original seller or how any item was used before it came to us. For a variety of reasons, we maintain the confidentiality of our sellers and resellers. We have never trafficked in stolen items and we do not purchase from individual “off-the-street” sellers. We refurbish, rebuild and sell used computers because this is our business model … and we know we are good at it.
Guarantees & Warranties
Do you offer a warranty?
All items come with a limited warranty. The exact terms and conditions of any warranty, including time period, is dependent upon the selling price. All the terms and conditions will be discussed in person at the time of purchase.
How good is the battery?
The battery in your device is used. Over time, all batteries lose charge capacity. We test each item to determine that the battery holds a charge; however, this is the full extent of our testing process and none of our batteries are guaranteed. This is necessary to minimize our costs; we do not have the capability to fully test every battery.
Purchasing & Pricing
Why are your prices “non-negotiable”?
By buying in bulk, we are able to pass significant savings on to every customer. We carefully research our items based upon benchmarks and the used computer market, and factor in our time and expenses. Our prices are very competitive and are not negotiable. We very rarely offer any quantity discount.
Do you take credit/debit cards?
We take all major credit and debit cards. However, we offer a “sales tax discount” on cash transactions. Sales tax is required on every item we sell, but cash avoids various fees associated with credit/debit cards. Therefore, as a courtesy to our customers, we will pay the sales tax on any cash sales. On all credit/debit card transactions, customers must pay any sales tax.
Do you deliver/ship items?
We never want any customer to receive a computer from us that is not what you expected or one that may not be working the way you want. For this reason, we ask our customers to come to our shop where you will be able to inspect your item and test it out before purchase.
GCB Computers is a family owned computer refurbisher, our goal is to build and sell computers with reasonable margins, that allow us to pass our savings onto our customers. We only get our computers in bulk, which allows us to set our prices much lower than most other computer refurbishers.
